Daddy’s Song
Children's Song Lyrics and Sound Clip
Patricia Shih

Oh Daddy is a man who reads to me, I don’t know how to read myself
It’s “Pat the Bunny” and “See Spot go”
Though he’d rather read the New York Times I know; he says
“This little piggy goes to Harvard
This little piggy goes to Yale
This good piggy goes to medical school
And this bad piggy goes to jail!”
Oh Daddy is a man who reads to me, I love my Daddy, Dad loves me

Oh Daddy is a man who sings to me when I don’t want to go to sleep
He taps his foot and sings off key
But no one sings as sweet as he; he sings
“Take me out to the ball game
Get a job--scalalala, scalalalala
Hush little baby, don’t say a word; Papa’s gonna buy you a Thunderbird”
Oh Daddy is a man who sings to me, I love my Daddy, Dad loves me

Oh my Daddy doesn’t do just the fun stuff--no!
He washes my clothes and changes those diapers when they’re
scented
Daddy likes to do all that yucky stuff
I think that’s why daddies were invented

Oh Daddy is a man who plays with me, he wants me to grow big and strong
He swings me around and he throws me high
So far, he’s caught me every time; he says
“Daddy’s little big girl will play football”
But Mommy says these hands will play guitar
Well, I’m gonna be what I’m gonna be
Whatever I am, I’m Daddy’s shining star
Oh Daddy is a man who plays with me, I love my Daddy, Dad loves me
I love my Dad, and Dad loves me
